Editor's Ten

what's topping our playlists

PrintPrint

Tuning in, turning on, and rocking out is a college tradition. This week, editors reveal what’s been topping their playlists.

1. Alec Ounsworth: The former head of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Ounsworth really branches out on his first solo album, Mo Beauty. His song “Holy, Holy, Holy Moses” has been on repeat in my room the past week or so.
-Zach Dyer, Managing Arts Editor

2. The Killers, “A White Demon Love Song”: Perhaps the only good thing to come out of the Twilight Saga, this song is a departure from the Killers’ usual electronic sound: it is a mellow, heartfelt ode.
-Paul Hsaio, Interview Editor

3. Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga: I listen to “Telephone” and “Monster” when I’m running. I have a total girl crush on her, and she’s a total obsession for members of the Philolexian Society.
-Logan Hofstein, TV Editor

4. Charlotte Gainsbourg, “Le Chat du Café des Artistes”: There’s something mysterious in the melody that reminds me of James Bond movies, which I spent half of winter break watching.
-Allison Malecha, Style Editor

5. Nina Simone, “Do You Move Me?”: If I ever decide to forgo my work study allotment and become a stripper instead, this song will be my jam. It oozes orgasm, which actually sounds pretty gross. But Nina makes it work.
–Amanda Cormier, Deputy Features Editor

6. Balmorhea: Apparently Texans can really make music—no silly singing, just straight up instrumentals: piano, cello, guitar, bass, violin, etc. This music makes me believe that life is worthwhile.
-Sarah Ngu, Ideas Editor

7. The Offspring, Greatest Hits: I’m ashamed to say I’ve rediscovered the album that defined my 8th grade (okay, 10th grade) pop-punk phase. It’s just so catchy—I “Can’t (help but) Repeat.”
–Devin Briski, Managing Features Editor

8. Nirvana. And early Modest Mouse: I haven’t listened to anything new in a while, and I feel like I should, but the 90s were just so good.
-Angela Ruggiero-Corliss, Music Editor

9. The Chuck soundtrack, on repeat: I’m currently obsessed with the TV show Chuck (finished seasons 1 and 2 over break—could Zachary Levi be any funnier??) and the music is just awesome.
-Claire Fu, Books Editor

10. Silence: My headphones are broken, but I’m still wearing them around—they make for decent earmuffs.
-Daryl Seitchik, View From Here Editor
