Iodice / womenswear

In a penthouse amidst the famed New York City skyline, Iodice outfitted mannequins in effortless pieces, ideal for any glam-girl on the go. “The sea” Iodice explained to me with his heavy Italian accent, “was my inspiration: the pearls, the flowers under the sea, the monochromatic colors.” All elements of Iodice’s Summer 2010 collection are in fact representative of the water: the drapery and movement of the pieces give the effect of waves moving through water, with none of its weight. Bold corals, rich navy satins, and khaki hues all blended in an array of daring pieces which included jumpers, Grecian-one-shouldered floor-length gowns, and sexy backless tanks. But Iodice’s triumph was the pearl: almost all the looks were paired with an ornate arrangement of tricolor pearls as thick wrist wear or bold neckwear, complete with pearl “sea flowers”. Iodice also presented a dress and tunic heavily encrusted with a mix of beads, pearls, and shells. Although this homage to the sea may seem solely for the beach set, the intricate pleating and drapery of each piece make the Iodice girl elegant, sophisticated and a force to be reckoned with. Get the look: try pairing a satin mini-dress with at least three strands of pearl necklaces of varying lengths - the fatter the better.
