Twinkle By Wenlan / womenswear

The Spring 2010 Collection of Twinkle by Wenlan designed by Wenlan Chia was a prime example of a successful show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Yin Chang, aka Gossip Girl’s Nelly Yuki was in attendance, as was Alex McCord of Real Housewives of NYC and “Dandy” Patrick McDonald. The collection had a sort of flirty, whimsical vibe to it that somehow oozed femininity despite the fact that many pieces were clearly menswear-inspired.

White tissue silk blouses with black buttons and collars took center stage, while a bevy of flowered and printed silk pants added color and fun to the black and white and cream of many tops. Most of the dresses were vibrantly colored, with refining details like gathered necks and pulled-in waists that nicely balanced the flouncy shapes and flowing silk that dominated the collection. Models rocked a red lip and voluminous curls that perfectly contrasted the lightness of the clothing.

And the best thing about this collection? It’s all totally wearable… except for maybe those flowered silk pantalones. To get the Twinkle look this spring, pair the softest of silk or jersey tees with light-wash legging jeans and simple sandals for a more casual look, and keep an eye out for any jersey or silk dresses with interesting draping.
