On the Lookout: Isla Fisher

PrintPrint

Isla Fisher, once know as that girl from Wedding Crashers and Borat’s fiancée, will soon become a household name in her own right. She can currently be seen playing the lovable Rebecca Bloomwood in Confessions of a Shopaholic, a romantic comedy based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Sophie Kinsella.

Confessions of a Shopaholic, which hit theaters last weekend, is a delight to fashionistas nationwide. The film features items by renowned designers like Zac Posen and Gucci and tells the story of a girl who wears any designer clothing that she can get her hands on—even when she can’t afford it.

Despite her wonderful personal sense of style, Fisher, in a recent interview for Allure, states that she is not actually like Rebecca Bloomwood. She rarely shops, and when she does, it is only out of necessity. Fisher’s style, as evidenced by countless paparazzi photographs, seems to convey that one needn’t wear the latest trend or shop at the most expensive store— looking stylish is about being comfortable with who you are as a person.

Nonetheless, Fisher continues to make it onto best-dressed lists by donning seemingly simple but elegant dresses like the Carlos Miele number she wore to the Golden Globes this year, and the intricate sage mini-dress by Matthew Williamson she wore to the New York premiere of her new film.

Even though Fisher isn’t a shopaholic herself, appearing in the film will connect her to the fashion world—giving more exposure to her understated but sophisticated personal style. Like Anne Hathaway after starring in The Devil Wears Prada, Fisher is sure to become another great fashion icon to look out for on the red carpet.
